We were privileged to have Kamiah Community members Wayde and Michele WhiteEagle at the KIYE Studio in Kamiah.
Wayde is an enrolled member of the Nez Perce Tribe and a Sergeant with the Nez Perce Tribal Police. Michele and Wayde have been married for almost 21 years. They have two daughters, one is married and has two children and their other daughter just graduated with honors from Kamiah High School. Michele works part time at the Kamiah Clinic and serves in ministry as a worship leader at Clearwater Valley Assembly of God and Living Waters Healing Rooms, an International Ministry, praying for people and their needs.

Through a mutual friend, Lenta Hall of Missions with Africa, the WhiteEagles met Pastor James Ekwang from Uganda. When he came to speak at their church, he shared an impression that there were some people present that would travel to Africa. Even before this was shared, Michele had already felt led to learn more about Pastor James, his family and ministry and this announcement served as a confirmation to go. She knew however, that she wasn’t to do it by herself. Although Wayde was very supportive from the start, he quickly realized that he should go as well.
Listen to the WhiteEagle’s share their story. Here are some highlights:
- Serving together as a married couple
- Doubts–is this just me or is that really you, God?
- The purpose of their trip and how their understanding changed along the way
- Similarities and differences of Native American and African Tribal Culture
- Challenges of cross-cultural communication
- Eating strange food during a power-out
- An important lesson God wanted them to learn: Giving a little of themselves can make a big impact with others.
- Do you have a dream, put there by your Creator? Pursue it, don’t be afraid! If God is for you who can be against you!
The interview with the WhiteEagle’s airs May 31, 2015 on KIYE 88.7 and 105.5 FM K288EU between 8 and 9 AM.
The program also streams at the same time here: KIYE StreamOn. If you missed the program or you are outside of the listing area, you can download or stream the program from our archive: Calling All Warriors Show.

Thanks for sharing about the mission work so wonderfully. Look forward to the next trip in prayer, fasting, and preparation. You are official missionaries now with wet feet in service to the Lord our God.
