Julia Keefe, (Nez Perce) was born in 1989 in Seattle, WA. She has lived on both coasts of the U.S. Several of her formative years were spent in Kamiah, Idaho on the Nez Perce Indian Reservation. Recently, she graduated with honors from the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music in Coral Gables, FL, studying jazz vocal performance.
Julia began singing jazz while in the seventh grade at St. George’s School in Spokane. She was a participant at the annual Lionel Hampton International Jazz Festival in Moscow, ID for five years as a soloist and in award winning choir and ensemble groups. In 2007, Julia won an outstanding vocal soloist award at the Lionel Hampton Festival.
Hattie Kauffman, was for many years a fixture of CBS This Morning and has a illustrious career as a news reporter and anchor, and four Emmy Awards to show for it. She has written a very candid and vulnerable memoir entitled “Falling Into Place.” It opens with the end of a marriage, provides deep insights into her childhood, upbringing, and struggles.
She also shares very openly about her conversion experience, becoming a Christian. After encountering God, she wished it had happened much earlier in her life, but pride and maybe some anger from her teenage years kept her from it. You can read the full interview she gave for huffingtonpost.com here. Check out her book “Falling Into Place” for an insightful look at her life and experiences.
